We are an entirely volunteer-run organisation with no government funding. Please consider donating towards our costs, if you can.
We are a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, based in and around London, dedicated to helping stringfoot pigeons. It is our mission to relieve the suffering of as many pigeons affected by stringfoot as we can, without depriving of them of their freedom unless absolutely necessary.
Why do so many city pigeons walk with a limp, or have missing toes, or mangled feet? It's due to human hair, strands of cotton, and other string like materials getting caught on their toes, and wrapped and tangled around their feet. The strings can cut off circulation and cut into their skin, causing pain and often irreversible damage - unless we get to them in time.
You can help transform the lives of city pigeons by:
- Picking up and binning any clumps of hair, bits of string, or other thread like materials you see on the ground, before they have the chance to end up tangled round a pigeon's foot.
- Contacting us if you see a pigeon in your area struggling with stringfoot. Please include the exact location where you spotted the pigeon, what time it was, and, ideally, some pictures and videos of the pigeon and of its feet.
- Reaching out to us if you'd like to learn how to help stringfoot pigeons in your area, safely and effectively.
- Donating towards the ongoing costs of our mission to help stringfoot pigeons.
City pigeons are feral, not wild. They are the descendants of birds that we domesticated, and who saved lives by carrying messages during the world wars, who we subsequently abandoned when we no longer needed them. They are gentle, harmless creatures, who are not the disease spreaders you might have been led to believe. Their foot injuries are almost always caused by our rubbish getting caught on their toes.
